My name is Susan Burton and I would like to welcome you to the internet home of Hugsnkisses Persians.
My First Cat ...
My first cat was a big red tabby who was 6 months old when I rescued him from a pet store. I was passing by the store and noticed a pretty cat in a cage. I was charmed... until I also saw that a bunch of kids were poking at him! Furious, I asked them to stop teasing the kitty. They just laughed and continued tormenting the poor cat.
I was upset to no end and immediately rushed to a pay phone to call my husband, Rick. I asked him if we could have a cat. You know how husbands are... He said no.
But... you know how wives can be :-)... so the next day I found myself riding home in the car with my husband... and the red tabby kitty, now named Spanky.
That was in 1993 and Spanky
is still living with us.
Hooked!
There was quite a time between my first cat and my second. It was not until 2002 that I first attended a cat show - and met Darlene Feger. I told her I was looking for a pretty white kitty as a pet. I choose Persians because I love their look! There is nothing like a huge coat and big open eyes - not to mention that most Persians are so warm and friendly.
Darlene had a single white kitten to offer me, but there was a catch. He was too nice just to sell as a pet, -so she sold him to me as a show cat. I had to agree to show him to a Grand Premiership.
I had no clue what all that was about - but I fell in love with the gorgeous white kitten and so I immediately agreed to Darlene's terms. The baby was mine!
I will never forget our first show. Moonfrost, Frosty to his friends, did amazingly well. At a Long Island show he had 17 ribbons on his cage! I took pictures but you couldn't really see the pretty kitty behind so many ribbons. It was the most fun I had ever had!
I was hooked!

I went on to grand Frosty... and he was doing so well we continued showing to a win as Second Best Cat in Premiership in the Northeast Region . I was thrilled... my first grand and my first regional win!
But Frosty had one more "first" he wanted to give me...
GP, NW Kitty Charm Moonfrost
of Hugsnkisses
Frosty loved showing. He loved to play for the judges and was a real ham when he knew everyone was watching HIM! He took his baths like a pro and would even help me groom by lifting up his arms so I could comb underneath. He knew the routine well and he liked to help. He was a great travel buddy. Always a trooper , he never complained no matter how long the trip or how many hours we were stranded in a airport!
The decision was made to try for a national win.
And so it was that by the end of April, 2003 he added another title to his name - GP, NW Moonfrost of Hugsnkisses, 9th Best Cat in Premiership in all of CFA!!
I was so proud of him... and when he gives me a kiss, I just melt!
My next cat was GC Divinity's Key To My Heart. "Quattro" granded quickly and is the sire of the first litter born at Hugsnkisses.
Hugsnkisses
When it came time to choose my cattery name, I knew immediately that it has had to be Hugsnkisses. Whenever I see a pretty kitty that's all I want to do - hug and kiss it!
The Future
Jim Warden of Artemis Persians sold me my first girl kitty, GC Artemis She's The One of HugsnKisses. I call her Tinkerbell and she is amazing.
Thank you, Jim for allowing me to love my first little - soon to be a mommy - Princess.
She is now pregnant with her first litter. I am so excited!
All cats at Hugsnkisses have beens scanned negative for PKD. I am a proud member of the Garden State Cat Club.
